The Speedtimer Prospex watch collection represents Seiko’s professional timekeeping heritage and takes inspiration from the brand’s innovative history.
This particular design is powered by a new in-house solar chronograph calibre equipped with a stopwatch which measures time to the nearest 1/100th of a second.
Becoming official timekeeper for Tokyo’s 1964 Olympics was a turning point in Seiko’s history when the brand began making precisely accurate professional sports timing instruments, with no prior experience. This legacy continues today as Seiko is the World Athletics Official Timekeeper since 1985, supplying timing and measurement services to more than 180 World Athletics events in every corner of the globe.
The dial of this particular timepiece achieves visibility and legibility due to its separate indicators for time and chronograph functions – its monochrome colourways give it the nickname from Seiko fans as a ‘panda’ style. Conveniently solar-powered; the watch charges from both natural and electric light.
The hammer-shaped button allows for easier operability of the stopwatch function. This model is powered by the in-house built Solar chronograph calibre 8A50 that allows measurement to the nearest one-hundredth of a second.
Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
