Description
The Chronostop was launched in 1966 as part of the Seamaster line, with a 42mm case, but then transferred to the Geneve collection in 1967 in a smaller case size. The watch is powered by a manual-wind movement with a simplified chronograph operated by a single button at 2 0’clock to start and stop the red centre-seconds chrono hand. Once the button is pressed to stop the hand, continuous pressure on the button is required to read the time. Once the time is noted and the button released, the red hand returns to the 12-position. The watch has a black oxidised dial with applied polish steel hour marker batons, and there is an internal fixed bezel displaying a Tachymetre scale. The watch is depth rated to 60m. This example is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear to the Starburst finish on the case or polished case bevels. The watch comes on its original perforated black leather “Racing” strap with steel folding deployant bearing the Omega symbol. Very rarely, this watch also comes with its original box and papers, dated as first sold in 1970. A fantastic example of a relatively uncommon vintage Omega.
