Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date 16610 Product code: 11-05-047 / 16610
The Rolex Submariner Date is one of the most iconic and recognisable diving watches ever made. This reference, the 16610, was released in 1988 and was powered by the brands longest serving movement, the automatic Rolex calibre 3135 with date located at the 3 o’clock position. The watch was originally fitted with black glossy dials with T25 tritium hour markers and hands. Tritium dials were eventually phased out in the late 90’s with watches being fitted with “SWISS” only dials in 1999. “SWISS MADE” dials were fitted from 2000 onwards. These later dials featured Super-LumiNova filled hour markers and hands. Early Rolex Submariner 16610’s were fitted with the 93150 Oyster bracelet with folding clasp. From 2000 the 93250 Oyster bracelet was fitted. The 16610 originally featured case lugholes but these were deleted in 2003. The 16610 was discontinued and superseded in 2010, meaning that it is now a highly desired and collectable reference.
This example, dating to 2000, is in excellent condition cosmetically and mechanically, having undergone a service at Rolex in 2019. The watch comes with inner and outer boxes, year 1999/2000 Calendar card and the Rolex International Service Guarantee card dated 6th Feb 2019. An appreciating icon.
